School Violence

Boston -- Is violence on the rise in our nation's schools?

School violence experts say communities and schools should take a preventative approach to violence, rather than focus on punishing students who have behavior problems. Doctor William Pollack at McClean Hospital, says it all depends on how well teachers and students communicate...

Pollack says schools need a bond of trust between students and teachers, something that is often missing...

But Pollack says the environment at home is important as well, in preventing school violence...

Pollack emphasizes students are looking for structure, high academic expectations, and teachers who understand and can communicate.
