"One Bold Night" Fundraiser - May 23

“ONE BOLD NIGHT”
Local Team Presents Fundraising Event

May 8th, 2008 (Boston) – Members of the “Pink & Blue Wrecking Crew” team are hosting a local Fundraising event Friday, May 23rd, 2008 at the Sons of Italy in Woburn. The 4-member co-ed team has set a goal of raising $10,000 as part of their commitment to the 3-Day event.

In keeping with the theme of the 3-Day walk, this fundraiser has been named “One Bold Night”. Kicking off the evening at 7:00pm on May 23rd, music will be provided by DJ Dave LeConti. A $20 donation and a valid ID (21+) at the door is all that is needed to enjoy the event. Advance tickets are also available to avoid the lines. The first 50 guests will received a giveaway.

During the event, raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win gift certificates to various restaurants, overnight accommodations at local Boston hotels, Odyssey dinner cruise, tickets to local entertainment, tools, apparel items, maid services and more. Drawing for all raffle items will be held at 10pm.

All proceeds from the cover and the raffle tickets benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Cancer Trust Fund.

The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk for women and men who want to make a personal difference in the fight to end breast cancer. Participants make a commitment to meet an individual fundraising goal of $2,200 and spend several months training to prepare for the event. They devote the entire three-day weekend to the cause.

Since its inception in 2003, more than $220 million has been raised through Breast Cancer 3-Day donations, contributions and sponsorships.

Breast Cancer 3-Day walkers travel an average of 20 miles a day during the event. Participants are provided meals, snacks, drinks, shower facilities, tents, safety guidelines and 24-hour medical support — all resources needed for a safe and memorable experience. A crew of volunteers spends the entire weekend with walkers and staff to make the event possible.

In addition to the Boston-area event August 15-17, the 2008 Breast Cancer 3-Day Series includes events in Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Cleveland, Washington, DC, Arizona, San Francisco Bay Area, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Atlanta.
