Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club Announces “The Wellesley Kitchen Tour 2008: Celebrating its 10th Year”
Kitchen Tour Fundraiser to Benefit MetroWest Charities
WELLESLEY, Mass…The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club will hold its annual Wellesley Kitchen Tour 2008 on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Celebrating its 10th year, this hugely popular fundraiser invites an excursion into 6 of Wellesley’s most stunning kitchens, exploring a variety of styles and concepts in kitchen design.
The Wellesley Kitchen Tour 2008 features a half-dozen uniquely different homes, and although the main focus will be on the kitchens, guests can also enjoy a peek at other adjacent living spaces as well. This year’s awe-inspiring homes include: 65 Hundreds Road, 55 Pine Plain Road, 14 Allen Road, 6 Tennyson Road, 81 Albion Road, and 129 Albion Road.
The kitchens being showcased range in size, style and décor: from a breakfast bar area made of black marinace granite, to kitchen counter tops made of Calcutta gold marble, or a custom-made maple center island reminiscent of a French Country breakfast table, to butler’s pantries with leaded glass windows, and silver grass-cloth wallpaper, or one outfitted with granite, a wet bar and wine fridge. Many of these spaces marry form and function, with “Mom Command Centers” for homework and family scheduling, and adjoining mud rooms with cubbies for book bags and sports equipment.
“This year, the homes on the tour really illustrate the thoughtful balance between formal and informal spaces,” says Valerie Buller, Wellesley Kitchen Tour Co-Chair. “All of the homes are warm and welcoming – practical for family-living, in all its forms, and equipped to entertain even the most discerning of guests. There truly is something for every taste and sensibility.”
The Wellesley Kitchen Tour raises much-needed funds to benefit a variety of Metrowest charities. Proceeds from last year’s event contributed towards over $170,000 in college scholarships and in charitable donations to organizations which provide education, enrichment, and essential services to the Wellesley and Metrowest populations. Some of those organizations include the Wellesley Food Pantry, the Wellesley Teen Center, REACH, a support community for battered women, Bootstraps, which cares for horses
used in riding programs for special needs kids, and IMPACT, Inc., which provides training for citizens with disabilities.
For the third year in a row, the Kitchen Tour’s Corporate Sponsor is TIBMA design/build ( www.tibmadesignbuild.com), a local design and construction firm that does a great deal of its work in Wellesley and surrounding communities. “We really think it’s important to support the organizations that make the community we live and work in thrive,” says Mary Tibma, co-owner of TIBMA. “We’re proud to be a part of this great event, and are grateful for the chance to give back in some small way.”
Ticket Price is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets can be pre-purchased at Roche Bros., La Riviera Gourmet and Jarvis Appliance in Wellesley, and are available at any tour home on event day. Tickets are non-refundable, and the tour is held rain or shine. Children under the age of 18 are not permitted inside tour homes. We kindly ask that all shoes must be removed inside homes, booties will be provided. Ticket sales begin on April, 28, 2008.
