Celebrate the North Shore’s only organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgender youth.
NAGLY – the North Shore Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) youth. We have been around for many years serving as the only organization in the area providing support, education and advocacy for GLBT youth and their supporters. We write now requesting support from you in publicizing our upcoming (and, first ever!) fundraising event.
NAGLY provides educational programs and support services for young people ages 14-21. Our mission is to create, sustain and advocate for programs, policies, and services for the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender youth community, particularly including the establishment of regular support meetings, and to defend and enhance the human and civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Our members come from communities along the route 128 corridor, including Lynn, Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody and Gloucester. Meetings held in Salem, often serve 40-50 youth in a given week, are facilitated by professional youth advocates and public health specialists in partnership with peer leaders. These meetings provide a safe and supportive environment for GLBT youth to come together to learn and be themselves.
NAGLY is part of a network of similar organizations across the state, and, although we receive a small amount of state dollars to fund our work, we survive because of volunteers and the generosity of the community.
