BOSTON (AP) -- The end of the legislative session is good news for House Speaker Sal DiMasi.
As lawmakers sprint to pass major bills before the end of their formal two-year session this summer, they are drawing attention away from DiMasi, who has faced nagging ethics questions.
The Democratic Speaker cleared his schedule earlier this week to meet with reporters and deny he has done anything wrong. He says the questions surrounding him are political attacks drummed up by Republicans.
He also denied there was battle developing between his possible successors.
DiMasi hopes to refocus attention on some of his legislative priorities before the session ends in July, including a "green jobs" initiative designed to dedicate $50 million over the next five years to encourage the growth of environmentally businesses, from wind farms to renewable technology.
Senator Richard Durbin of Illinois, talks about how unpatriotic the Republican leadership is by breaking the record for filibusters in Congress thus hurting many Americans.
