High school reunions maybe hazardous to your mental health. I just received an announcement concerning my high school reunion and it is a “biggie.” However, at this stage, they are all “biggies.”
No matter what your age, when you attend your reunion, you revert to when you were 17 or 18 years old.
You remember your classmates as they were then, not now. You look forward to seeing some of your closer friends. And still remember very clearly the classmates who, in your then adolescent mind, did you wrong.
It is difficult to accept that your friends now look old. Even worse, some of them are no longer with us.
If they look old, what about yourself? Do you look as old as they do? The answer is most likely, yes.
At the reunion you will talk about the old days, your grandchildren, or your health status, including comparing medications.
Should you go to the reunion? A very personal decision—but if you do, be prepared. |
