Boston (WBZ Newsroom) -- With the Prudential Center and the Hancock, the Back Bay is home to the tallest buildings in town, but Mayor Tom Menino was hoping the Financial District could get it's own skyscraper.
But, the FAA says "no" saying it would be too close to Logan. Menino tells WBZ Newsradio 1030 that he' confident, even with height restrictions, that developer Steve Belkin can still create something iconic for the Financial District.
Belkin's design (pictured above) called for a 75-story tower of glass that would float above a ground-level public space and incorporate numerous environmentally friendly features. He tells the Globe his group is working with the city and the appropriate agencies within the FAA to address the concerns.
Senator Richard Durbin of Illinois, talks about how unpatriotic the Republican leadership is by breaking the record for filibusters in Congress thus hurting many Americans.
