East Bridgewater (AP) -- An East Bridgewater man has been ordered held without bail after authorities found 35 pipe bombs in his home.
Michael Ambrose was arraigned in Brockton District Court on Friday on a variety of charges including multiple counts of possession of an explosive device. A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Police Chief John Cowan says authorities went to the home of the 41-year-old Ambrose on Thursday after receiving a tip from someone who had seen the explosives.
The discovery of the bombs prompted the evacuation of three nearby houses and the diversion of traffic and pedestrians from the normally quiet neighborhood. The state police bomb squad detonated the devices.
Ambrose's lawyer said in court Friday that his client had no intention of blowing anything up. |
