I doubt that even Danny Ainge envisioned a 66 win regular season when he assembled the 2007-2008 Celtics.
Sure, the addition of Keven Garnett, Ray Allen, James Posey and Eddie House would give Paul Pierce a chance to do something he could only dream about in the past but a league-best 66 wins? The clear cut favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference? A solid favorite to hang the 17th banner in the Garden rafters?
It sounds all too good to be true. Kind of like an undefeated Patriots season, which as we all know, was too good to be true.
So don't count your chickens just yet folks.
Count your Hawks, as in the Atlanta variety. They are first on the post-season agenda. Nothing else, at this point, is relevant.
Bruins Beat Panthers, 4-2 The Boston Bruins are right on schedule.
Marc Savard and Patrice Bergeron had a goal and an assist each to lead Boston to its eighth victory in nine games, a 4-2 decision over Florida on Friday night that moved the Bruins into a tie for the Eastern Conference lead.
Bruins Out-Slug Sabres, 7-4 A slow start did not stop the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
The Bruins overcame an early 4-2 deficit to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 7-4. It was Boston's sixth straight win at home.
Zdeno Chara and Chuck Kobasew each scored two goals, Marc Savard had a goal and three assists to lead the Bruins.
Bruins Edge Toronto, 3-2 The Maple Leafs were pressing for a tying score during the second period Monday night and it seemed only a matter of time before they would get it.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Bruin Michael Ryder raced into the Toronto end, dragged the puck around a defender and scored with a high wrist shot. Boston hung on for a 3-2 win.
The Bruins through the eye of Steve Babineau Steve Babineau, the Boston Bruins official photographer, now in his 35th year, tells all through the lens of his cameras. He talks with WBZ's Tom Cuddy.
Bruins Squander 2-0 Lead, Lose in Shootout, 3-2 Nigel Dawes and Markus Naslund wiped out New York's two-goal deficit in the closing minutes of the third period, and Chris Drury scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Rangers a 3-2 win over the Bruins at Madison Square Garden.
